Alan Dolan & Associates ceased operations in May 2025, following the death of Alan Dolan. Memorial information can be found on his website.
Alan had over 30 years of community engagement, facilitation and communications experience, working for government, and as a private consultant to government, First Nations and NGOs.
In the early nineties, Alan held senior communications positions with the government of British Columbia, including Director of Communications at the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs and Communications Manager at the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks.
With two degrees in biology and additional experience working as an environmental biologist, Alan focused much of his work in the environmental and resource management fields.

Engagement and facilitation training evolved from a combination of experience, Quaker teachings, IAP2 Certification, Art of Hosting workshop, Dynamic Facilitation workshop and other workshops and courses.
Alan’s personal commitment to sustainability was exemplified in his involvement in the CRD Roundtable on the Environment, as founding member and board chair of the Values-Based Business Network, as coordinator of the Greater Victoria Food Exchange Co-op, and through work with the Transition Towns movement in both Victoria and Sooke, BC.
